A very young newcomer alongside a more experienced actress, who together play mother and daughter in what is one of the best Italian debuts of the season, signed by Nicola Prosatore. Here’s what Truppo and Donnarumma told us about Piano Piano and their characters.
Very quietlythe first feature film by Nicholas Prosatoreone with a long experience of TV and advertising behind him, director among other things of the popular docuseries Wannais a coming of age story. It is the story, set in a kind of apartment building isolated in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of Naples in the 1980s, where everything is about to change, of a teenager named Anna, intrigued by the world and by life, taken like so many teenagers by the desire to grow. Anna has a mother, Susi, who dreams of a better future, a better life than the one she has had, for her only daughter. Susi puts all her expectations of her in Anna, and protects her from everything, even too much, somehow making her a prisoner of a situation from which a girl like Anna can only seek escape.
Anna is played by the newcomer Dominique Donnarummawhile Susi from Antonia Truppogood Neapolitan actress who di Very quietly she was also a screenwriter, together with Prosatore, Francesco Agostini and Davide Serino. What’s more: much of the story told by the film is based on real childhood memories of Truppo.

Very quietly was presented in world premiere in Piazza Grande at 75th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, and a national preview at Alice nella città, the independent and parallel section of the Rome Film Fest. They are also part of the cast John Esposito e Lello Arena; with them too Joseph Pirozzi (winner of the RB Casting Award as best young Italian performer), Antonio De Matteo e Massimiliano Caiazzothe latter among the protagonists of the cult series Sea out.
Very quietly is a Briciolafilm production with Rai Cinema, produced by Nicola Prosatore and Antonia Truppo, in association with eskimo, in collaboration with Soul Movie. The film also got the Gianni Volpi Award for the best Italian debut feature film of 2022 al Sottodiciotto Film Festival & Campus as well as the mention of the SNCCI critics at the Corto Dorico Film Fest 2022.
