After the bad news about the release date of the second season of What If…?, just as bad news is coming for that of Loki: while his debut date has so far been set for summer 2023, Disney+ recently updated the exit from window “Estate 2023” a “Soon”.
The update therefore casts doubt on the initially planned release date of the second chapter, and not only that, it could also affect those of Secret Invasion, Echo, X-Men ’97, Ironheart, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
As the only upcoming MCU Disney+ TV series to have released a trailer, Secret Invasion it could be the next show to see the light of day.
The platform has ordered the next three MCU releases in the following order: Secret Invasion, What If…? (season 2) and Loki (season 2), but it’s unclear if the list is indicative of their release history.

Why might Loki season 2 be delayed?
Having started production last June, and concluded in October, the second season of Loki has been ready for some time, so much so that the expected release date of summer 2023 has generally been seen as one of the few certainties in the project list of the ‘MCU.
A recent spot highlighting Disney+ and Hulu’s 2023 releases included footage from both the Secret Invasion and the next Loki chapter. So even if neither show hits this summer, both should still be released later this year.
But only because Disney+ now flanks the wording “Coming Soon” to Loki season 2, that doesn’t officially confirm that it won’t debut by the end of September. This could just be a detail that gives Marvel Studios more leeway if something doesn’t go as planned.
As for this apparent delay, the most likely cause comes from wanting to allow more time for VFX work – given that many of Marvel Studios’ recent releases have been criticized by fans for shoddy CGI.
