On our screens now Peter Pascal is the protagonist of two TV series: in the spin-off series of Star Wars The Mandalorian plays Din Djarin, The Mandalorian, while in the drama series The Last of Us he takes on the role of Joel Miller. They are only the last two roles in a career that exploded when the actor took part in Game of Thrones.
All fans remember him well as the prince Oberyn Martell, which, despite appearing in only one season of the eight overall, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of fans. And recently Pascal spoke precisely about this character, telling an anecdote from his period during filming.
For Pedro Pascal, filming Oberyn’s death was very relaxing
As all fans remember well, in Game of Thrones Peter Pascal he interpreted the Prince Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper.
During his story arc Oberyn finds himself becoming the champion of Tyrion Lannister in a duel to the death, wanted by the Goblin during his trial for treason to the crown. In fact, Tyrion is accused by his sister Cersei to have poisoned Joffrey.
He then requests a trial by duel. Cersei nominates Gregor Clegane “the Mountain” (played by actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) as champion, while Oberyn offers to duel for Tyrion, driven by the desire for revenge against the Mountain, which in the past had brutally killed the sister and nephews of the Red Viper. During the duel, however, the Mountain kills Oberyn in a very bloody way, a scene that all fans still remember well.
This scene is the protagonist of the anecdote that Pascal he said during his participation in the format Hot Ones.
The actor has indeed confessed to falling asleep while filming her death. Tells:
“They crushed my head. It was the highlight of the day. It was so hot when we were shooting that scene.
His (Björnsson) he was on top of me and put his thumbs in my eyes. Tubes had been placed on her body and they went from her forearms to her fingers and pumped this fresh blood. (Björnsson) he was so delicate, the most delicate person ever seen. I didn’t feel any pressure, he was so aware of what he was doing..
The actor went on to tell the tricks used to bring about his death:
“There were all these meaty chunks that they had placed on my face and pumps of blood so that it could spread, and then they shot this nice overhead shot. And I was completely asleep”.
The hot-cold combination relaxed the actor to such an extent that he entered a deep sleep:
“It was so hot and that substance so refreshing to the touch plus I had to be completely still. It was the most relaxing thing ever. I also knew that we had come to the end of filming this fight, which lasted four days, it was very cathartic and I went into the deepest sleep I’ve ever had.”
