Humans have come a long way in their existence, from apes to intelligent humans, from vying for power to creating a peaceful and democratic society through modern technology. However, as we progress, we lose sight of what provides us with a home: the Earth. Several predictions suggest that our planet will be destroyed by catastrophic climate change, or perhaps a nuclear war, but nevertheless we continue unabated to destroy it little by little.
Extrapolations, the new show coming to Apple TV+, plays this dilemma aptly. Apparently, the creators wanted to ensure that as many viewers as possible understood the message sent by the TV series, so they cast prominent actors such as Tobey Maguire, Kit Harington, David Schwimmer e Maryl Streep.
The TV series entered development in 2020, while filming began in October 2021 and concluded in early 2022. Writing, producing and directing was Scott Z. Burnsknown for working on the 2011 film Contagion. Burns he proves to be an effective writer with stories that tap into real global issues that are major narrative topics in major projects with strong casts. Extrapolations fits neatly into the same category as the film, and promises an in-depth narrative on the most pressing issue of climate change.

Plot
The upcoming anthology series takes viewers to the near future, where climate change has wreaked havoc in people’s daily lives, who now want to live in a world other than the Earth, which is changing faster than the population. While man has better technology, allowing him to harvest energy from the sun, cure cancer, and even set foot on Mars, an unsolvable cycle of problems seems to grow daily.
Many have accepted their fate, believing that global warming will spell the end of civilization, while others are still working hard to develop new technologies to help them survive.
Second the official synopsis released by the platform, “Extrapolations is an invigorating limited series that introduces a near future where the chaotic effects of climate change have become an integral part of our daily lives. Eight intertwining stories about love, work, faith and family will explore intimate choices that change life, and which must be done when the planet is changing faster than population. Every story is different, but the fight for our future is universal. Are we brave enough to become the solution to our downfall before it’s too late?”.
The TV series will tell different stories through various connected characters living in a world facing the drastic results of climate change. Important comments will also be made on the ongoing climate crisis affecting our planet and our well-being, and perspectives in relation to the consequences of climate change will be explored. Be it scientists, civilians, elites, children or political leaders, the series will represent a strong position on the need for efficient action to save the world and humanity.
