Written and directed by Boots Riley, the dark comedy will be available soon.
Prime Video is going to show us something unusual once again. In I’m a Virgonew coming-of-age series streaming soon, the Emmy winner Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us) plays a 13-foot-tall young black man. The dark comedy was born from an idea by Boots Riley (Sorry to Bother You), also director of all episodes.
I’m a Virgo: The plot and the rest of the cast
Growing up never leaving the house, spending his time devouring comic books and TV shows, Cootie escapes to experience the beauty and contradictions of the real world. He makes friends, finds love, navigates awkward situations and meets his idol, the real life superhero The Hero (played by the star of Justified Walton Goggins).
Riley called Cootie’s story “dark, absurd, funny and important”. The rest of the cast includes Brett Gray (On My Block), Kara Young (The Punisher), Allius Barnes (Cruel Summer), Olivia Washington (She’s Gotta Have It), Mike Epps (The Upshaws) e Carmen Ejogo (Your Honor).
