Yellowjacketsthe Showtime TV series, will return this month with new episodes that will give us different twists. The plot revolves around the story of four survivors of a plane crash, who, as adults, have to deal with their trauma. The first season of this series, which combined the mystery genre with horror, intrigued the audience and achieved great success. All eyes are now on second season which will debut on March 24 on Showtime and which will arrive simultaneously in Italy on Paramount +. Meanwhile, a new background on the first season has emerged which concerns the two actresses who play the role of Shauna Sadecki.
Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse have admitted they feared they would be fired before filming began on Yellowjackets.
Sophie Nelisse in the Showtime series she plays the young Shauna Sadecki in flashbacks dedicated to the time the protagonists spent in the wilderness after the plane crash. To wear the woman’s shoes in the present, when as an adult she has to deal with her trauma, instead it’s the talented Melanie Lynskey. For the two actresses, being able to erase their differences and look like the same person on stage was a real challenge. Sophie Nélisse admitted in an interview with IndieWire last year that, when she met Melanie Lynskey, she immediately realized how different he was from her not only physically, but also in speech. At that point she feared that she would be replaced with an actress more like her. Here’s what she said to IndieWire:
“And then I get to the script reading table for the first time. I’ve never heard Melanie Lynskey talk so much in real life. And she has a line, and I hear it and say, ‘Oh my god, his voice is so high pitched.’ E i’m sitting at the table with all those important people and at which point I was like, ‘I’m going to be fired.’”
What he didn’t really know was that Melanie Lynskey had the same doubts at that moment and feared that she would be the one to be cut out of the cast. As soon as the meeting with the other actors ended, the actress in fact said to her young colleague:
“I think it works and you were so good at reading (that) if someone were to be fired, that person would have to be me.”
Eventually of course neither actress was fired and they managed to find ways to best play the character of Shauna Sadecki. On one side Melanie Lynskey he learned to speak in a more serious tone of voice on the other Sophie Nelisse she said goodbye to her blonde hair and went brunette. The two actresses have acknowledged that, even if physically they are not perfectly alike, have managed to instill the same temperament in the They character. In fact, they said in the interview with IndieWire:
Melanie Lynskey:We don’t really look that alike, but there is something in our energy that works”.
Sophie Nelisse: “Many people say that we embody the same essence“
