Tonight the Second Season of Il Commissario Ricciardi begins on Rai 1, the series with Lino Guanciale based on the novels by Maurizio De Giovanni. In an exclusive interview the actor tells us everything and more about the character who sees the dead and despite him falls in love.
With trepidation and great emotion we want to celebrate the return of the Commissioner Ricciardi, one of the most loved characters by the Italian television audience. Interpreted by Pillow linen, Luigi Alfredo Ricciardi Baron of Malomonte born from the wild imagination of Maurice DeGiovanniwhich placed him in Naples in the 1930s and in 13 novels (plus a few short stories), placed the robust Brigadier next to him Raffaele Maione, made him the object of desire of two women and above all gave him a supernatural ability that is also his curse: to see the ghosts of people who died in a violent way and “listen” to their last thoughts. Obsessed with justice and the determination to catch the killers, melancholy and wrapped in his raincoat when it’s cold or windy, Ricciardi will be the protagonist, starting from This eveningin Early Evening on Rai 1, of four new episodes.
To direct the Second season from the Commissioner series Ricciardi this time it is Gianpaolo Tescari, while the cast remains the same as in the first season. Next to Pillow linen we find Antonio Milo (Raffaele Maione), Enrico Ianniello (Bruno Modo), Serena Iansiti (Livia Lucani), Maria Vera Ratti (Enrico Colombo), Mario Pirrello (Angelo Garzi), Fabrizia Sacchi (Lucia Maione), Nunzia Schiano (Rosa Vaglio), Adriano Falivene (Little girl), Marco Palvetti (Falco), Veronica D’Elia (And long). The most important new entry is Florence D’Antoniowhich plays the part of Bianca Palmieri of Roccaspinawhich will prove to be an important ally of Ricciardi. And always about Ricciardi, Pillow linen spoke extensively about the character, and the challenges it gave him in Seasons 1 and 2, to industry reporters. We were also in the lucky group, and these are the interesting statements of the dark-haired and blue-eyed actor who this time no longer has a rebellious curl on his forehead but retains the proverbial tuft of Louis Alfred.
Commissioner Ricciardi and emotions
The fact that you care about this character is evident from the question you all ask me, and that is if Ricciardi will finally be able to have a normal love relationship. I say this with a joke, but in reality I really mean it: it’s miraculous that a man who tries everything to appear like a kind of sociopath, and who keeps his emotions at a distance, triggers such a huge response from the public television. This means that somehow we have worked well. In the first season we saw several cracks in the armor that the Commissioner Ricciardi he built himself to protect others from himself. Although he wants to keep this armor up, what happened in the first season has left an indelible mark, and I can anticipate, without spoilers, that from the first to the fourth episode of the second season the cracks of Ricciardi they will become leaks, leaks that will let through the strength of the desire to deserve some happiness.
Love lessons
The commissioner Ricciardi will undoubtedly undergo changes, and in this sense I have an easy life thanks to the writing and inventiveness of Maurice DeGiovannithat with “little walk” opened the second cycle of Ricciardi. In the first cycle we find in my character a very strong growth of awareness of the place to be given to love in life. The writers said it too: this is a long coming-of-age story. The first 12 novels of Ricciardi they are the story of an emotional and sentimental education. In these 4 episodes of the second season there is a turbo-acceleration from the point of view of feelings, above all if one thinks of the affective rhythms that the Commissioner had in the first season.
Being Lino Guanciale
To be Pillow linen it’s hell, because there’s always so much to do. And yet, paraphrasing an author who belongs to our generation, I feel like saying “I’m a very lucky boy”. The first thing you need to have, when doing my job, is respect for one’s luck, and therefore for the opportunities that are given to us. We should try not to waste even one and try to always make choices capable of questioning us, going to the bottom of these choices. If someone had asked me this question 10 years ago, I would have answered: “Maybe they’ll fall for it!”, in the sense that it’s very nice to be able to do so many things, move from one language to another. It’s lucky to be able to afford it.
Commissioner Ricciardi is empathy
The real difficulty, which is also the charm of this character professionally speaking, lies in the rendering of an enormous capacity for empathy, an enormous emotional capacity that the Commissioner hides under a multiplicity of layers, from his skin to the raincoat wears. With Alessandro D’Alatrithe director of the first season, we had decided that everything should go through the eyes of Ricciardi, as actually happens in the novels. There are magnificent descriptions that Maurice DeGiovanni ago, which have been an important reference for me from the very beginning, but I think we all started from the material in the books, starting with some important details. Ricciardi, for example, keeps his hands in his pockets because he can’t stop them when he’s most nervous, and he often is, more than it shows on the outside. His eyes always express a very strong emotion or are in perpetual motion, because they are looking for signs that will help him solve the puzzles he is facing, or even to escape from the apparitions that haunt him. I tried to tackle the Commissioner’s series Ricciardi as a very fun game to play, without thinking about my eventual ability to bring home a good result. I’m still focused on getting it right. You will be the one to judge the success or otherwise of the enterprise.
Ricciardi and Lino Guanciale
Maybe I was like Ricciardi! The commissioner Ricciardi he is a man with an incredibly strong sense of ethics. Furthermore, he has an incredible ability to resist pain, to the trials to which his reality subjects him. I would really like to be like him. I have tried to build points of contact with this figure, as any actor or actress who is faced with such demanding challenges does. Probably, if we really have to look for a character trait that the Commissioner and I have in common Ricciardi, then I would say dedication. For sure Ricciardi he also carries with him a load of exemplary for the way he faces his job and his troubles.
The justice of Commissioner Ricciardi
Of his trauma Ricciardi somehow makes a strength, and has done so since adolescence, when he realizes that, if he understands who is really responsible for the violent death of the “demonstrations” that persecute him, he will be able to give relief to them and to himself, making them fade until they disappear. The moment he realizes this, Ricciardi he immediately decides to be a Commissioner, to study law to make his life revolve around justice, which then means at the same time giving meaning to his gift (or his curse), refusing his breath and being useful in the world, which obviously it does not relieve him from traveling roads with large forks. We have already seen it in the first season and we will see it again in the second. The passionate readers know it well: the justice of Ricciardi it does not always coincide with that of the law. There are occasions in which the Commissioner takes the liberty of acting according to his will to make the law and justice coincide through what he considers the most humanly correct solution, in respect of who is really the victim of the bloody crimes on which he is investigating. Herein too lies the greatness of Ricciardi: in this ability to make justice triumph even in spite of the impediments for which we are responsible.
