Following James Gunn and Peter Safran’s announcement about the revamped DC Universe, actor and comedian Jack Black has decided to transform into Superman in a hilarious parody of the DC superhero.
From down DC Universe, rejoice! We have finally found the new Superman for the upcoming projects of DC Studios. Indeed, to play the Man of Steel in the reboot of James Gunn will be…Jack Black!
Superman, Jack Black will be the new Man of Steel in the James Gunn films
James Gunn e Peter Safran have been appointed CEO of DC Studios, to bring a breath of innovation to a DC Universe that was struggling to find its dimension. Under the aegis of the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, the new multiverse has already seen the closure of the Superman franchises of Henry Cavill and the third chapter dedicated to Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. In several speeches, Gunn has revealed that the plans for the DCU span a ten-year timeframe and will begin with the first chapter Gods & Monsters. Inside, there are already several titles currently in pre-production, such as a new film on Batman, numerous TV series, cartoons and the reboot written by the same Gunn starring Clark Kent and which will be called Superman: Legacyplanned for 2025.
At the moment, none of these projects have a director or cast named, but it seems that, at least for the future Superman, we have found the new interpreter. And it is an actor capable of decisively rivaling Henry Cavill and who, indeed, could even exceed the expectations of the public, once we see him in action. We are talking, as we anticipated you about Jack Black. The actor posted a hilarious video on his Instagram profile in which he interrupts his nap to answer a call from a DC Studios bigwig: James Gunn!
In fact, the CEO decided to contact him to ask him to take part, in the role of Superman, in his next project. “No, man, I can’t, I’ve played all the superheroes before. Yes, I know I’m amazing!” is the answer of Black who, however, finally decides to accept and save the world in the guise of the Man of Steel, hurtling through the skies with the costume in an exhilarating performance. The truthful response was also immediate James Gunn who, appreciating the actor’s irony, replies to the video with a comment:
“I thought we agreed to reveal the news at ComicCon”
Waiting to find out who – this time for real – will take the role of Henry Cavill in the renewed DC Universe, enjoy the video of Jack Blackperhaps, the best Superman of all time!
