The actor, receiving the award, said to those present:

“I like to see people doing well, I know that things don’t happen by chance. I know it’s not just luck. You have to create that luck. You have to make it exist with the will. I want you to know that I’m always rooting for you. I do cheers for you all.” The award was presented to him by Sherry Lansinghistoric producer and former Paramount president as well as wife of the director William Friedkin, who described Cruise as “someone I totally love and respect and admire. He used to sit in the projection booth, where no one could see him, or sit in the back of the theater so he could see the audience’s reaction.” In his acceptance speech, Tom Cruise mentioned his collaborators Christopher McQuarrie e Jerry Bruckheimer. He concluded by saying: “If every Studio does its best, every film does its best, if we all do our best, it’s good for everyone. So I can’t wait to see what you create in the future, and I will continue to do what I can to help help this industry and this art form that I love.”
