The 73rd edition of the Berlin Film Festival ended with the awarding of the prizes by the jury presided over by Kristen Stewart. The Golden Bear goes to Sur l’Adamant, but also a prize to the only Italian in the competition, **Disco Boy**.
The 73rd edition of the Berlin Film Festival with the announcement of the winners of this edition, assigned by the international jury chaired by Kristen Stewart. L’Golden Bearthe main prize of the event, went to the French On the Adamant by Nicolas Philibert, but there was also space for the only Italian in the competition, Disco Boy by Giacomo Abruzzese.
As far as the performers are concerned, the unified award for the best interpretation, with no more gender distinctions, went to the very young Sofia Oteroadorable protagonist of 20.000 Species of Bees (here our review of the film, in which his performance is praised), while the award for supporting actor went to Thea honorfor the German film Till the End of the Night.
On the behind-the-camera awards front, theSilver Bear for the best screenplay ad Angela Schanelecwhile the best director has been assigned to Philippe Garrel for its The Plough. The special jury prize was also awarded to the Portuguese Joao Canijo for Bad Livinga il Grand Prix and Christian Petzold per Afire.
The main award was presented to director Nicolas Philibert directly from Kristen Stewart, who explained the motivation for theOrso d’oro a Sur l’Adamant for the way it redefines the rules of cinema. We recall that the film is a documentary that tells the story of life in a reception center for people with mental disorders.
The Berlinale 2023 has also awarded Steven Spielberg with a Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievementwhich was withdrawn a few days ago by the director, after a very rich and passionate press meeting.
