Outer Banks returned yesterday on Netflix with a new exciting season, which promises to give us several surprises. Netflix relies heavily on this series and has demonstrated it, renewing it for a fourth season even before distributing the new episodes. The teen drama features a group of young boys, often at odds with the Kooks, who go on various adventures to get their hands on a mysterious treasure. Playing the leader of the Pogues, the adventurous John B, is actor Chase Stokes who became famous thanks to this show. However, few know that if things had gone differently, we would not have met the actor in this series, but in another Netflix show. Chase Stokes I had did, in fact, audition to play a much loved character of Stranger Things.
The actor of Outer Banks auditioned to play the role of Steve Harrington.
Today we could not imagine an actor other than Joe Keery to play the role of the nice and brave Steve Harrington. Yet initially Chase Stokes had been considered to play this character in Stranger Things. The actor of Outer Banks drove to Atlanta to audition but during the audition he screwed up and lost all chance of getting the part. He actually told it Chase Stokes in an interview given to Access Hollywood before the launch of the third season of Outer Banks on Netflix. Here’s what she said:
“Actually I auditioned for the character of Steve Harrington. I forgot all the lines and absolutely screwed up the audition. I drove eight hours from Atlanta to Orlando, regretting every moment of my life for that.”
Naturally after this disastrous audition he didn’t get the role, which he went to instead Joe Keery, who was able to interpret it perfectly. However the Duffer brothers were very impressed by Chase Stokes and decided to write him a small role for an episode of the first season of Stranger Things. When then the producers of the series began to develop Outer Banks, they remembered him and offered him the lead role. This time fortunately the audition went well and he joined the cast of the teen drama. Chase Stokes said he was very grateful to Stranger Things and to the Duffer brothers, because this very experience allowed him to arrive at Outer Banks. He added:
“I’m super proud of Joe (Keery). I’ve talked to him quite a bit over the years. And I’m just grateful to the Duffer Brothers for giving me the opportunity to, like, do my job and start my career.”
