The new season of the hit series, 16 episodes long, will arrive on TV this summer.
Starz’s Valentine’s Day gift for viewers in love with the show Outlander was a preview of the opening credits sequence of the seventh season arriving this summer, with the now iconic song The Skye Boat Song sung this time by the Grammy-winning Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor. The minute-and-a-half sequence also features new visuals taken straight from the next chapter in Claire’s love story (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), as well as their family and friends.
Outlander 7: Sinéad O’Connor sings The Skye Boat Song
“We are honored to have Sinéad O’Connor singing The Skye Boat Song“said the showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts. His portrayal is, to me, a reminder of all that is great in Outlander. He has immeasurable talent. His is a legendary voice that pierces the heart and soul, and embodies the spirit of the series.”
16 episodes long, the seventh will be the penultimate season of Outlander. Last January, Starz announced that the adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s fantasy/adventure novels will conclude with a 10-episode eighth cycle, adding however that the franchise will continue to live on with Outlander: Blood of My Blooda spin-off prequel focusing on the love story between Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.
