Stranger Things is certainly one of the most popular series of recent years. Debuted on Netflix for the first time in 2016, this series with a sci-fi and 80s atmosphere immediately won the hearts of viewers. Over the course of its four seasons, the last of which was released on Netflix last summer after about three years of waiting, the series achieved a resounding success, becoming a real cultural phenomenon and carving out its own space in the collective imagination. Currently, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer I’m at work on Stranger Things 5which will also be there final season of the series.
Part of the merit of the fortune of Stranger Things must undoubtedly be attributed to his castwho has been able to perfectly support veterans of the entertainment world, such as the extraordinary Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), to a group of very young actors. The performances of Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair) e Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield) in the roles of the young protagonists were so iconic as to even raise the question of whether the series would still be the same without children.
However, fame, especially when it comes at such a young age, has been known to result in some as well collateral effect. He knows it well Millie Bobby Brownwho spoke several times about the sexualization to which she was subjected, but also Caleb McLaughlinwho revealed he was object of racism by the fans of the series themselves. Recently, too Finn Wolfhard, which we will review in Stranger Things 5opened up about the difficulties experienced after the global success of the Netflix series.
Finn Wolfhard struggled with anxiety and panic attacks while filming Stranger Things
In a long interview for GQFinn Wolfhard talked about a few difficult times lived during his career, launched thanks to the role of Mike Wheeler in the Netflix series when the actor was only thirteen years. Wolfhard recounted that in his early teens he felt he was finebut what between fifteen and sixteen years started to suffer from panic attacks on a regular basis.
“(In those early years) I didn’t talk about anythingsimply because I was having this crazy and rousing career, so there was no time, or at least we didn’t believe there was at the time”, explained the actor. “Everyone was like, ‘Look at him, he’s good. He’s having a great time.’ But in reality, probably I was also growing up and things were happening in my brain and yes they were forming some anxieties and things that i didn’t realize i had to bury because of how i had to feel while i was at work”.
Finn Wolfhard, oggi twenty years old, he said he experienced this feeling again recently. The actor has in fact revealed of having a panic attack while filming his new film, When You Finish Saving the Worldreleased in the USA on January 20, 2023:
“I was so tense and nervous for that because I was thinking like, ‘This is the first film I’m doing as an adult‘”, has explained.
However, on this last occasion Finn Wolfhard was not left alone. The actor claimed to have been comforted by colleague Jesse Eisenberg, who wrote and directed the film. Eisenberg also got into show business when he was a teenager, and he has rassicurato Wolfhard revealing to him of having also had a panic attack while on the set of Adventureland.
We just have to wish the best to Finn Wolfhard, who we can’t wait to see again as Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things 5and to his career which, we are sure, is only just beginning.
