Luther: Into Hell – plot, cast and trailer of the film with Idris Elba
After playing the British detective Luther for 5 seasons in the BBC series of the same name, Idris Elba returns to take on the role of the character in the first sequel film of the series, four years after the conclusion of the TV series. Luther: To Hell will be released on the platform on March 10, while in English cinemas it will have an early release on February 24.
The trailer released by Netflix opens with Luther behind bars, after the events of season five, while a vicious serial killer is terrorizing London. The detective will decide to break out of prison, haunted by his failure to not finish his job. The film is directed by Jamie Paynealready at the helm of the fifth season, while the script is signed by the creator of the series, Neil Cross. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Idris Elba revealed that fans had been clamoring for a sequel after the end of season 5, but that – although the events follow up on the series finale – you don’t need to have watched all 5 seasons.
On his character he said:
“Luther is haunted, that’s the point of the story. Even when he’s a free man, he can’t help but chase, chase the ghosts in his head. And I think that’s what drives him in the film. He’s haunted by what he did, the things he could have done and the people who died, and he couldn’t save them.”
In the cast, in addition to Idris Elba there will be Cinthya Erivo, Andy Serkis e Dermont Crowley.
