Dexter: New Blood is over. Will there be a prequel about the young Dexter Morgan?
Immediately after the end of the series (broadcast in Italy on the Sky Atlantic channel), the showrunner Clyde Phillips had explained to TVLine like the renewal of the show was everything”in the hands of Showtime“. “If they called me saying, ‘We want to figure out how to do a second season’, I’d drop everything, even though I’m quite busy, and throw myself into it. I would love to do that” added the screenwriter. The new chapter in the series was supposed to follow Dexter’s son, Harrison (played by the actor of The Good Lord Bird Jack Alcott). Apparently, however, the franchise will not stop there: it seems in fact that the production house has several ideas to keep the world of Dexterincluding one serie prequel focused on the past of the famous serial killer of criminals played by the actor Michael C. Hall (formerly known for appearing in the dramedy series Six Feet Underbut became famous thanks to the character of Dexter Morgan, thanks to which he won an Emmy Award).
The original show is based on the book by Jeff Lindsay The left hand of God
The original series is aired from 2006 to 2013 on Showtime (in America), while in our country it was broadcast by Cielo, Italia 1, Rai 4 and by the Fox Crime and FX satellite channels. Based on the novel by Jeff Lindsey titled The left hand of God, the show (consisting of eight seasons for a total of 96 episodes) focuses on a serial killer characterized by a particular ethic: to kill only criminals, dangerous characters for society such as rapists, pedophiles and murderers. The revival instead shows the life of the protagonist after having staged his own death: Dexter, who fled to Miami to try to rebuild his life, will he be able to keep his murderous instincts under control?
