As announced, James Gunn has finally revealed what the next films of the new and renewed DC Universe will be: from Superman to The Batman 2, let’s find out together!
As announced, today 31 January, James Gunn e Peter SafranCEO of DC Studios have finally revealed the new projects coming in the next few years for the renewed DC Universe.
DC Universe, the announcement of James Gunn: The Batman 2 and Superman: Legacy are on the way
Gunn e Safran they organized a conference at Warner Bros. to present what they called Chapter 1 of the new DC Universe, which they called “Gods and Monsters”. The projects presented cover a wide range: from films based entirely on DC heroes, including a new reboot of the Man of Steel, written by Gunn itself and with the title Superman:Legacygoing through a movie about Batman and Robinto a prequel series on Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, up to films starring lesser-known characters of the immense DCU, such as Booster Gold e Swamp Thing.
On the new attempt to create a multiverse that is able to compete with theMCU, Peter Safran he has declared:
“DC Studios is unprecedented. This is the first time that everything related to DC – film, TV, live-action, video games – is all concentrated in the vision of a single creative mind, mine and that of James .”
Gunn also gave confirmation of the sequel to the Batman of Matt Reevesalso revealing the release date, set for October 3, 2025 and with title The Batman: Part IIwhile for Superman: Legacy the release date is set forJuly 11, 2025. On the reboot of Superman have revealed that it will be a story designed to re-introduce Clark Kent and his costumed alter-ego. Regarding The Batmanhowever, the film will remain separate from the universe of DC Studiosas well as Joker 2: Madness for twoboth will be labeled as DC Elseworlds.
Another film about the Bat Man, entitled The Brave and the Bold will arrive before the two announced films and will be centered on Damian Wayneson of Bruce Wayne, and on Robin. All announced titles will be released between 2024 and 2027 and at the moment they have not yet been assigned to specific directors or have a cast already defined.
Beyond Superman: Legacy e The Batman: Part II we will see: The Authority: a film that will bring together several superhumans with ambiguous morals and who are supposed to save the world. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: Focusing on Kara Zor-El, Clark’s cousin and defined by Gunn come “a very different Supergirl from Superman” and finally, Swamp Thing: This film will investigate the dark origins of the Swamp Thing, one of the least known characters of the DC Universe and with much darker tones. For each of these projects, however, developments are still ongoing and could then be released as series if the situation warrants.
Along with the movies, James Gunn e Peter Safran have also announced several series and live-action for TV dedicated to what promises to be a DC Universe like we’ve never seen it before.
