How I Met Your Father, sequel to the famous and beloved How I Met Your Mother, has come true: it airs on Hulu with protagonist Hilary Duff (while in Italy the series is on Disney+).
The series follows the same logic as the parent series: the protagonist who tells the children how he met the other parent. We have identified the 5 moments in which the spin-off was really up to the mother series.
In How I Met Your Father we had some cameos from the mother series: in the first season we saw Bobby Smulders, interpreter of Robin Scherbatskywhile in the second season we see Neil Patrick Harrisor Barney Stinsonwhich will play a very important role.

Jason Segel recently spoke with Matt Cohen, correspondent of Entertainment Tonightat the premiere of his new TV series, Shrinkingwhich will come up Apple TV+.
In the interview, Segel admits he didn’t know about Neil Patrick Harris’ cameo and reveals if he would ever make an appearance in the spin-off TV series.
Marshall Eriksen’s interpreter says, in fact:
“I did not know (of Harris cameo)but those people (the creators of How I Met Your Mother) they changed my life and I would do anything they ask me”.
Also Josh Radnorinterpreter di Ted Mosbyhas the same willingness as Segel to participate in the spin-off of How I Met Your Mother. In fact, the actor revealed that he had an email exchange with Hilary Duff (Sophie), the protagonist of How I Met Your Fatherwho would like it in the spin-off.
The showrunners of How I Met Your Father, Isaac Aptaker e Elizabeth Bergerthey told Entertainment Weekly to have planned “storylines for all the main characters”including Segel’s Marshall Eriksen.
“Now it’s just a matter of putting them in and hoping that the actors are available and want to be on the show when the time is right. But yeah, we think it’s a lot of fun, and it makes our world bigger and pleases the viewers, and we’re happy and we have ideas.”
How I Met Your Father: the second season on Hulu and Disney+
The second season of the sitcom How I Met Your Father has been broadcast on the Hulu streaming platform since January 24, 2023.
At the moment the season is unreleased in Italy but we think it will arrive, like the first, on Disney+.
In the cast together with Hilary Duff we find Christopher Lowell (Jesse), France Raisa (Valentina), Tom Ainsley (Charlie), Tien Tran (Ellen) e Suraj Sharma (Sid). In the recurring cast we will see Kim Cattrall (the Sophie of the future), Daniel Augustin (Ian), Ashley Reyes (Hannah) e Josh Peck (Drew).
