Near him, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri will be respectively Annabeth e Grover. This time, Rick Riordan has closely followed each stage of the creative process of the series, in which each season will focus on one of the books in the saga. In particular, in the first novel, The Lightning ThiefPercy will have to prove his innocence after being accused of stealing Zeus’ thunderbolt.
Although Rick Riordan had already revealed a large part of the cast, up to this point the casting of the actors who would play Zeus and Poseidon had been kept under wraps. Now the news has come that il Council of the gods is (at least for now) complete.

“In all his roles, Lance projects an aura of authority and power that makes him a perfect fit for the king of Olympus. As I told him when we met, he has so much gravity that it could throw planets off axis, and when he expresses his displeasure to Percy Jackson… wow, wait till you see that scene“. Riordan wrote on his website, adding: “(…)Toby it’s amazing on screen. When he recited some iconic lines from Poseidon, I cried. And seeing him and Walker together, you can totally believe they are father and son”.
Rick Riordan has announced that the filming of the series is now winding down, declaring himself positive about the future of the series. We don’t yet know when the series will release on Disney+, but it will likely be sometime between end of 2023 and beginning of 2024. In short, now the cards are on the table, and they all seem to be in order to make Percy Jackson Disney+’s new big hit.
