1899the new TV series created by the creators of Darkunfortunately will not return with new episodes. The first season, which arrived on the streaming platform in November, did not get the desired results in the first month of release and therefore was brutally canceled by Netflix in early January. 1899 it therefore ended up in the group of those beautiful series that were prematurely canceled (but which are worth recovering all the same). This is just the latest casualty in a massive carnage the streaming giant has wrought in recent months. The top management of Netflix have also decided not to renew for a new season The Warrior Nun, The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, Blockbuster, Fate: The Winx Saga, The Midnight Club e Resident Evil. However definitely the cancellation of 1899 it is the one that most made subscribers to the streaming platform indignant.
Now Rosalie Craig has revealed that Virginia should have had a central role in season 2 of 1899.
The actress had the opportunity to comment on the cancellation of the series during an interview she released for Collider at Park City during Sundance. Rosalie Craig in 1899 played the role of cruel Virginia, a mistress who was traveling on the ship bound for America to traffic young Asian girls. After what happened in the shocking finale of the second season, in the new episodes we should have discovered much more about her and her past. The actress said that Baran bo Odar e Johnny Frisian they teased what plans they had for her character in season two, but unfortunately we will not be able to see what they had in mind. He said:
“Oh my god, absolutely. As for having an artistic vision, one composed of Baran bo Odar e Johnny Frisian it’s a couple of authors who make extraordinary art, I think. There was so much for Virginia out there. I was definitely one of the characters who would have done the most valid in the second seasonand maybe the audience would find out why she was so dark, so evil and why she acted the way she did. I know about these things, but I would have been really excited to explore them.”
Rosalie Craig explained why, according to her, 1899 was prematurely canceled by Netflix. Virginia’s interpreter said that of Baran bo Odar e Johnny Frisian it was a slow and complex series to follow, requiring more time to watch and enjoy. Unfortunately, however, at a time when the success of a show is evaluated on the basis of algorithms and numerical data, it is normal that the harsh law of ratings ends up damaging a product like 1899. Rosalie Craig indeed he said:
“I think the deletion of 1899 is a product of what we are experimenting with (with) the algorithms. The series has not been given the end it deserved. (Baran bo Odar) and (Jantje Friese) are people who create time consuming series. In front of works of art you have to sit down, think about them and wait for them to develop. But we live in an instantaneous society, so unfortunately we are a product of it.”
