The Exorcist (1973)
The sting is an extremely entertaining film, but when compared with the desperate and suffocating realism of the masterpiece by William Friedkinthere is little to discuss in our opinion. The exorcist it shakes us deeply, shows us the irrationality of evil in all its destructive force, conquers us with a perfect dramatic progression and a staging of unheard-of terrifying beauty. Dead Poets Society (1989)
One of the most poetic and moving feature films in the history of cinema, a Robin Williams in a state of grace for a story told by Peter Weir with an inimitable candor and sweetness. The fleeting moment it is the drama that marked a generation of spectators, and with good reason. Oscar for original screenplay, but defeated in the main category of Walking with Daisy. A joke: more than twenty years later we still think it was a joke…Available on Rakuten TVCHILI, Google PlayApple Itunes.
Goodfellas (1990)
Kevin Costner con Dance with wolves it embodied the American liberal and ecological spirit of the period, and therefore it was impossible for it to lose to such a robust and epic film. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
In the end Shakespeare in Love triumphed, and let us say this is perhaps the biggest scandal of the five presented for the artistic disparity with Save Private Ryan. Only with the opening sequence of the Normandy landings Steven Spielberg e Tom Hanks they brought realism to war cinema where it had never been seen before. A very hard, powerful, desperate film. At least the Oscar for directing has arrived, but too little. A scandal that tells of the power of those who knew how to buy the Oscar… Available on Rakuten TV, CHILI, Google Play, Apple Itunes, Amazon Prime Video.
