Avatar: The Water Way beats Avengers: Infinity War – it’s the 5th highest grossing film of all time

Avatar: The Way of Water continues to perform astonishingly at the box office. To date, the second chapter of James Cameron’s epic has in fact collected $2.054 billion. A record figure, which allows the film to “battere” Avangers: Infinity Warthus becoming the fifth highest-grossing film of all time.

Marvel’s blockbuster had in fact stopped at 2.052 billion. Avatar: The Way of Water therefore seems unstoppable – last week it had already surpassed another record-breaking Marvel cinecomic, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The last obstacle that stands between James Cameron’s film and the podium of the classification is the last “outsider” left, that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens – at $2.7 billion. The run of Avatar: The Way of Water it seems, however, destined to stop in 4th place. On the lowest step of the podium we find in fact Titanic – with approximately 2.19 billion dollars – whose collections are however destined to increase with the theatrical release of the 3D version, scheduled for February 9th. The 2nd place instead it is occupied by Avengers: Endgame, the final installment of the MCU Infinity Saga, which grossed approximately $ 2.79 billion. To the 1st placewith a record $2.92 billion, figure Avatarwhose earnings increased upon its return to theaters in September 2022. Having reached this new milestone, James Cameron he became the only director in History to have three feature films in the top 5 highest-grossing films of all time.

Whatever happens within the leaderboard, the Disney however, he will be able to rejoice in it, since the first ones seven positions are occupied by films produced by the The Walt Disney Company, of which 20th Century Studios has also been a part for some years now.
