Doom Patrol 5 will not be there
Doom Patrol 5 won’t be there. The series about the ragtag group of superheroes says goodbye to its audience after four seasons. The news was announced by Warner Bros. Discovery, which confirms that the season currently streaming on the HBO Max platform – the fourth – will also be the last for the series based on DC Comics superheroes.
In a press release, HBO Max confirmed that Doom Patrol – with Titans, another production by DC Comics and made by Warner Bros. Television – will end with the fourth season. “Although these will be the final seasons of Titans e Doom Patrol, we are very proud of these series and are excited for fans to see their emotional endings,” streaming platform HBO Max reported, adding, “we are grateful to Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television for delivering such exciting, action-packed and heartfelt series. We thank the showrunner of Titans Greg Walker, i produttori esecutivi Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Richard Hatem e il team della Weed Road Pictures. Per Doom Patrol, thanks to showrunner Jeremy Carver and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Chris Dingess and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson. For four seasons, fans have fallen in love with Titans and of Doom Patrol, participating in their trials and tribulations and their legendary battles that saved the world time and time again”.
Doom Patrol, because the tv series was canceled by HBO Max
With the end of the Arrowverse now imminent – the ninth season of The Flash will be the last – and the cancellations of Doom Patrol e Titans, It’s clear that Warner Bros. Discovery’s new regime, led by CEO David Zaslav, wants to take the DC Comics universe of television and film in a new direction. The working synergy with the mega-producer Greg Berlanti, with whom Warner Bros. Television recently renewed the exclusive multi-year agreement, is not questioned, as much as the presence of different titles – and therefore, of different iterations – of DC characters on multiple broadcasters and platforms.

The hiring of Peter Safran and James Gunn as heads of DC Studios – and the ten-year plan that they will soon illustrate to the press and fans – is proof that, for Warner Bros. Discovery, relaunching the DC world is of strategic importance. “The decision to end the series precedes us. But I most certainly wish the best to the talented group of creators, actors and the rest of the crew that produced both series,” Gunn was keen to specify in a tweet released on January 26, when the cancellation of the two series was made official.
Initially commissioned and intended for the now defunct DC Universe content platform, the series Doom Patrol brings to the screen one of DC’s most beloved superhero groups: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (Oscar nominated actor Brendan Fraser), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), Cyborg aka Victor Stone (Joivan Wade), plus former supervillain Madame Rouge aka Laura de Mille (Michelle Gomez).
Each member of the Doom Patrol has suffered a terrible accident that has given them superhuman abilities, but also left scars and disfigurements. Part support group, part superhero team, the Doom Patrol is a group of super-powered weirdos who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. The fourth season opens with an unexpected journey into the future of the team, which finds an unwelcome surprise. Faced with their imminent demise, the Doom Patrol must decide once and for all which is more important: their own happiness or the fate of the world? The cast of the TV series also includes Skye Roberts, Riley Shanahan and Matthew Zuk.
The fourth season is available on HBO Max in the United States starting December 8. In Italy, the first two seasons are available in the Amazon Prime Video catalog.
