Did you know the cast of How I Met Your Mother would have liked by a very large majority that Victoria was it the mother? And that actually in case of cancellation after the first seasons the authors had thought of her? And did you notice the age of Cristin Milioti (Tracy)? The “mother” is only eight months older than Lyndsy Fonseca, who plays the daughter in the show! Simple curiosities compared to the absurd things that will follow.
The history of the cigarettes ofMarshall. Exciting the marriage proposal. Unhappy but amusing the… dismissal of a very, very important little girl! Ready to discover all the most absurd curiosities of the cast of How I Met Your Mother? Let’s get started, then!
1) Marriage proposal… Live!
In the final episode of the second season, Ted and Robin decide to end their relationship. The pretext stems from an embarrassing misunderstanding. Robin, at dinner with Ted, finds an engagement ring in her glass and freaks out. However, it soon turns out that it was due to a mistake by the waiter the ring belonged to another customer. The guy takes back the jewel and proposes to his beauty.
The absurd fact is that there was nothing false in that scene! The two extras, in fact, were fans of How I Met Your Mother chosen for an appearance. But the woman didn’t know that her partner had orchestrated everything to make her an incredible marriage proposal! In short, what we see is a scene far from prepared and the absolutely authentic emotion of the two future spouses. Romantic to say the least!
Many will not know that Jason Segel, the Marshall of How I Met Your Motherit’s a avid smoker. Alyson Hannigan (Lily) has repeatedly complained about the actor’s breath. That’s why we see few kissing scenes between the two! There is more. To limit his cigarette consumption, Segel had accepted a bet. Ten dollars for every cigarette smoked on set. After the first day poor Jason was well into debt 200 dollars! It was this bet that prompted him to quit. But the abstinence test didn’t last long, with all due respect to Lily who had to put up with a Marshall for nine seasons, to say the least… smoked!
3) There are those who knew everything for nine years
And we’re not talking, of course, about the authors. Someone else within the cast of How I Met Your Motherhe knew the outcome perfectly of the series. These are the “sons of Ted” who for age reasons already filmed their part of the finale at the end of the first season. However, the two were not so good at keeping the secret. In short, in fact, something filtered and so both Josh Radnor (Ted) and Alyson Hannigan they discovered the truth. As reported by Hannigan herself: “I didn’t know who the mother would be but I knew the reason why (Ted) he told the whole story to his children it was because she was missing”. “A very sweet thing”.
4) Family Matters!
A very curious fact concerns the partners of the main actors of How I Met Your Mother. In fact, everyone took part in the show. Sandy Rivers, for example, Robin’s annoying anchor colleague is Alyson Hannigan’s husband. In six episodes appears Gary Blauman, colleague of Marshall and Barney. The actor who plays him is Taran Killam, the consort of Cobie Smulders (Robin). Finally, Scooter, Lily’s boyfriend in high school, is none other than the partner of Neil Patrick Harris (Barney).
5) What a drinker Neil Patrick Harris!
Many records and curiosities about Harris. Did you know that he was the highest paid of the cast? That he even directed an episode (“Jealousy”, 5 × 13)? And that he is a expert magician (much more than Barney)? He is even the president of the Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood! But the most absurd curiosity concerns the period of filming in How I Met Your Mother.
Harris binge consumed one famous energy drink. His fanaticism for the soft drink was rewarded by the manufacturer who decided to give his devoted admirer a mini-fridge to always have available during filming. Not only that: the actor was also guaranteed one unlimited supply of the supplement to repay him for all the publicity he has unintentionally generated. And Neil Patrick put the aaaali!
6) Alyson has a weird phobia
Over the course of the series we have witnessed several musical parts involving most of the characters. With one exception. Notably absent is Alyson Hannigan. It’s not a casuality. The reasons sink into one very unusual phobia. “I begged the authors not to let me sing. It’s like a phobia. I can’t do it in public. I know it sounds weird but it is and when I’m on some show and they want to put some music in it I’m like ‘Noooooo!!!’”.
7) Two ‘hidden’ girls and one fired
During much of season four Alyson Hannigan was pregnant. However, the authors were not interested in a pregnancy for Lily so they tried to cover up as best they could the belly. Except in one case. In the fourteenth episode of the fourth season (“No limit”) Lily wins a hot dog contest and her belly is shown in all its glory (to simulate a very full stomach)!
Hannigan isn’t the only one who got pregnant during that time. Shortly after her also Cobie Smulders she discovered she was pregnant and for the costume designers the cover job became double! Out of two ‘hidden’ girls there was also one fired. Alyson Hannigan’s real daughter was originally intended to play Lily and Marshall’s little girl but was deemed ‘too old’ and was replaced. Insensitive!
8) Who hasn’t seen it and who hasn’t loved it
It is Jason Segel himself who makes a sensational confession. “I have to be honest. I am aware of what is happening but something inside me pushes me to leave the series with a suspension point”. What is our Marshall referring to? “I’ve never seen the ending”. Paraphrasing Eriksen himself: “The only ones who haven’t seen the ending are the actors, Jason, because they lived it!”. From an actor who hasn’t seen it to one who hasn’t loved it. Let’s talk about Alyson Hannigan who had no qualms about revealing the ending to her didn’t really like it deeming it “a slap in the face for the fans”, “Abrupt” e “Hurried”. Face it!
9) I Want To Believe
We want to conclude this review with a tremendous revelation. Some believe in aliens, others in Nessie and Big Foot… And who says he saw the scaratopo! The strange being appears in the seventh episode of the first season but is not a figment of the authors’ imagination. Or so it seems. According to Alyson Hannigan, La producer Kourtney Kang she saw him while in his New York apartment. “It looked like a rat or a cockroach and flew out the window. I didn’t think he could do it but she did: he flew”. We want to believe it.
