The writer and voice actor will not return in season 7. The characters of Rick and Morty will be entrusted to someone else.
Justin Roiland is no longer one of the masterminds and voices of Rick and Morty. That is, the worst news that fans have ever wanted to hear. Adult Swim has fired the co-creator and voice of the hit animated series, following domestic abuse allegations against him in recent days.
“Adult Swim has terminated its partnership with Justin Roiland,” reads a statement signed by the head of communication of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and Boomerang Marie Moore. As a result of this decision, the production will have to look for a new talent to entrust the roles dubbed so far by Roiland, including the two main characters that give the title to the comedy, Rick and Morty, while the same has been confirmed up to a hypothetical tenth season (in May 2018, after the conclusion of season 3, Adult Swim renewed Rick and Morty for another 70 episodes, 30 of which – seasons 4, 5 and 6 – already aired).
The accuse against Justin Roiland
Two weeks ago, Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty con Dan Harmonsas well as Hulu animated series Solar Opposites e Koala Manfrom whom he is expected to be ousted in the same way, has been accused of domestic violence with bodily harm and of kidnapping by means of threat, violence or deception by a woman whose identity is currently unknown, facts attributable to an affair that allegedly took place in 2020. Roiland pleaded not guilty and was not detained by authorities, but is expected to return to court on April 27.
