Academy Award-winning actor Christoph Waltz takes on a light role in Simon West’s action-comedy Old Guy.
Christoph Waltzwho in the original version gave the voice to Count Volpe, the villain of Pinocchio by Guillermo del Torohas always had a sardonic vein which he expressed best in his villain characters, obviously starting with Colonel Hans Landa of Inglourious Basterds, for which he won the Oscar. Other times, with directors of a weaker wrist, you have tended to overwhelm the character, because he is one of those actors whose undoubted qualities must be channeled and directed to make the most of it. So it will be, we hope, for Old Guyan action comedy directed by Simon Westin which he will play a hit man.
In Old Guy Christoph Waltz is an elderly hit man who mentors a young boy
In Old Guydirected by Simon West and written by Greg Johnson, Christoph Waltz will play Terry Eubanks, an aging hitman who still believes he’s the best. Bored with routine, he is thrilled when the Society (the criminal organization he works for) calls him back into action, to discover that they only want him to train Wihlborg, a very young prodigy killer with quite a temper. This ill-matched couple is tasked with eliminating members of a rival criminal organization. During the mission, they discover the true motivations of the assignment received from their bosses: to kill the old guard to assume their power. What their bosses didn’t foresee, however, is that Terry’s years of experience combined with the boy’s genius will create an unexpected bond between the two and allow them to overthrow the plans of the Society. Shooting of the film will begin shortly in Belfast. Christophe Waltz is back from making the film The Portable Door and we will also see it in the Prime Video series The Consultant.
