Robert Pattinson has spoken out about the problems caused by widespread beauty standards in society, admitting that he was a victim of them.

Robert Pattinson harshly criticized the beauty standards that mentally impact people, not just Hollywood stars. The protagonist of The Batman has in fact revealed that he has even come to eat only potatoes for weeks, as a detox method.
Answering the questions of Evening Standard, Robert Pattinson pointed out that the canons currently prevalent in society are “insidious”. The actor explained: “Even if you’re keeping tabs on your calorie intake, it’s incredibly addictive and you don’t realize how insidious it is until it’s too late.“.
The movie star admitted: “I’ve tried basically every fad you can think of, everything except texture. I once ate nothing but potatoes for two weeks as a detox. Just boiled potatoes and Himalayan pink salt. It seems to be a way to clean up your body … You definitely lose weight“.

Pattinson later recalled that he’s tried other diets, like keto: “I thought, ‘Oh, is there a diet where you just eat charcuterie and cheese platters all the time?’ But I didn’t realize you can’t drink beer because that would totally go against the purpose“.
Robert also confessed that his statements against the necessary workouts before the shooting of the Matt Reeves film had consequences: “I’ve gotten myself in so much trouble for saying I don’t work out, even from my fitness coach who reacted by asking ‘Why did you say that?’“.
