With 9 nominations at the Annie Awards, Guillermo de Toro’s Pinocchio dominates the nominations for best animated film, followed by Red. The award ceremony is set for February 25th.
Nominations have been announced Annie Awardsprizes awarded annually to the best films and animation series of the past year, for this reason the fiftieth edition is 2022. To dominate the nominations undisturbed is Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro, which aspires to 9 awards. The great protagonist this time, however, is Netflix, which is behind a decidedly large number of television and film products.
Right after Pinocchio by Guillermo del Torobranded Netflix, we find Red with 7 nominations, Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish e Il Monster of the seas con 6.
The Annie Awards are intended for both cinema and TV and include several special awards, among which Winsor McCay Lifetime Achievement Awardwhich will be addressed to the director, animator and screenwriter Pete Docter ed Evelyn Lambart, known for her short films. The ceremony will be held on February 25 at the University of Los Angeles UCLA. The International Animated Film Society, which is the organization behind the awards, is particularly happy with this year’s ceremony, the first in attendance since the lockdowns.
