A photo stolen from the set of Joker: Folie a Deux has revealed the curious working title of the sequel, whose shooting started in December.
After the global success of Joker, a 2019 film directed by Todd Philips, a sequel seemed inevitable and so it was. Joker: Folie a Deux will arrive in theaters on October 4, 2024 and will see Joaquin Phoenix again in the role of the clown prince of crime, joined this time by Lady Gaga.
Meanwhile a photo stolen from the set has revealed the curious working title of the movie, that is Juliet. A clear homage to Shakespeare’s classic Romeo & Juliet. It is very probable that the love aspect between the two will be explored with the film which will introduce musical elements compared to the first chapter. Despite doubts expressed by fans, Joker actress Zazie Beetz has defended the idea, saying she has “a wonderful sense”.
We also know that Arkham Asylum, a very familiar place from Joker lore, will play a central role in the story. The “folie a deux” referred to in the official title of Joker 2 is a characterization of the “two-man madness” between Quinzel and Fleck.
Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn, but an image of her as the famous DC character has not yet been revealed. “I’ve had a lot of messages about it” ha spiegato Todd Phillips a Digital Spy. “I’m sorry to say that Lady Gaga won’t start with us until the new year. So it will be a while.”
