A group of guests at a high-altitude hotel remain isolated following an avalanche that blocks the only access to the valley. Blackout vite sospese is the new TV series arriving on Rai 1 from 23 January. Alessandro Preziosi and the crew presented it to the press.
One thing is clear: there was no snow and finding it represented the true yellow side of Blackoutother than the cold. Luckily there are the special effects and the efforts of the Trentino Film Commission, which took the troupe – up to 100 people – around the province of the fiction directed by Richard Womanarriving in prime time on Rai 1 from 23 January for four episodes.
Many special effects, nature and the high altitude mountain mark the return of “Alexander Precious after a long time in public television”, as the director of Rai Fiction said, Maria Paola Admire yourselfon the occasion of the presentation to the press, which defines the fiction “a relational mystery that divides people and then reassembles their ties, we see our weaknesses and see how nature, one of the great themes of this fiction, must be respected. We talk about what represents a nature that we think we know but is infinite and also gives us so many problems and dramas, as demonstrated by the avalanche that kicks off the action. An isolation that will stimulate relationships between people”.
Black Out – Suspended lives is a mystery-drama set in high altitude with Alexander Precious, Rike Schmid, Marco Rossetti, Aurora Ruffino, Mickael Lumière, Caterina Shulha e Maria Roverán. Directed by Richard Womanfrom an idea of Michelangelo the Snow e Valerio D’Annunziowho also co-wrote the installments with Peppe Millanta, Michela Straniero, Andrea Valagussa. A Rai Fiction – Eliseo entertainment co-production produced by Luke Barbareschi.
The producer himself recalled how the filming coincided with a “Winter without snow, we worked miracles thanks to the Trentino Film Commission, bringing snow even where there was none. The joke is that then, when we finished shooting, it snowed”. He did not fail to launch an appeal more like a warning to the government. “In Germany they have a budget of 2.7 billion euros for national television productions, in France and Spain we are at those levels. We limit ourselves to 300 million for RAI, even less. The narrative of a country cannot continue without a project of great couragewhich allows the storytellers to tell with great quality. If there are other Rai cuts, which I think are unlikely, it would be a problemabove all paradoxical given that our fictions are sold all over the world”.
The protagonists of Blackout they are the guests of a luxurious hotel in a small and exclusive ski resort. “When the earth shakes and the detachment of a massive avalanche isolates the valley and prevents possible rescue efforts from the only pass that connects it with the rest of the world, what should have been a pleasant holiday becomes a trap for some characters with secrets to hide, hidden identities and ambiguous professionals ready for anything. Among them there is also a murderess”.
Alessandro Preziosi defines the filming of fiction as an “adventure within an adventure”.. “One of the very few occasions that has happened to share the writing phases and the definition of the various passages. A great deal of intimacy was then created with my colleagues both at a work and personal level, an experience that I am very curious to go and see, even if I know how it ended. It’s beautiful how nature, understood as life circumstances, always gives you a second chance. It was one of the most difficult but at the same time constructive experiences. It had never happened to me to stay 13 weeks away from the ‘normal’ world, because where we were there was nothing. An applause for tenacity, for never giving up. We all helped each other and we also lent a hand in the many trips to the mountains”.
