Will Smith is the protagonist of Emancipation, the new film directed by Antoine Fuqua whose teaser was shared announcing the release date.
Apple TV + shared the former teaser from Emancipationthe new film by Antoine Fuqua with stars Will Smith inspired by a true story that will be released in December.
The video shows some scenes from the story of the protagonist who goes in search of his freedom by fleeing from a plantation where he is a slave and arriving in the North, where he fights during the Civil War.
Emancipation, which will arrive in American cinemas on December 2 and December 9 in streaming. will tell the story of Peter (Will Smith), a man who escapes slavery thanks to his intelligence, unwavering faith and deep love for his family.
The feature film is inspired by the 1863 photos that were taken by military doctors and were published by Harper’s Weekly in 1863. In the shots you could also see the backs of the slaves, marked by the lashes of their masters.
Also starring are Imani Pullum as Peter’s daughter, Steven Ogg (Snowpiercer, Westworld) who will play Confederate Army Sergeant Howard, Grant Harvey (Animal Kingdom, The Crossing) and Ronnie Gene Blevins (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Joe) playing the Leeds and Harrington soldiers, Jayson Warner Smith (The Walking Dead, The Birth of a Nation) as Captain John Lyons who was the owner of the plantation where Peter was a slave, Jabbar Lewis (The Terminal List, Adventure Force 5) who plays the slave Tomas, Michael Luwoye (The Gifted, Prodigal Son) as the slave John, and Aaron Moten (Next, Disjointed) who plays Knowls, a mixed-race man who collaborates with Fassel, whose job is to capture the slaves and for this reason he is considered as a traitor by the slaves.
The screenplay for the film directed and produced by Antoine Fuqua for Apple was written by William N. Collage.
