In the 2022-2023 season, CBS will launch True Lies, a TV series adapting the 1994 film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The adaptation of the series True Lies was ordered by CBS for the 2022-2023 season, after it was originally ordered in February 2021, only to be suspended indefinitely.
The release of True Lies, a serial adaptation of the 1994 film of the same name starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, appears to be close at hand, given CBS’s order for the 2022-2023 season. In the series, a dissatisfied suburban housewife (Ginger Gonzaga) is shocked to discover that her bland and insignificant husband of her IT consultant (Steve Howey) is actually a skilled international spy. She becomes embroiled in a life of danger and adventure when she is recruited to work alongside her to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.
Along with Howey and Gonzaga, the cast of the show includes Erica Hernandez, Omar Miller, Mike O’Gorman, Annabella Didion and Lucas Jaye. Matt Nix is a writer and executive producer via Flying Glass of Milk Productions. Anthony Hemingway directed the pilot and executive produced under his Anthony Hemingway Productions brand. James Cameron (director of the original film) and Rae Sanchini of Lightstorm Entertainment are also executive producers along with McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh of Wonderland Sound and Vision and Josh Levy of Flying Glass of Milk. Anthony Hemingway Productions’ Sean Hoagland and Whitney Davis are co-executive producers.
This represents the second attempt to adapt True Lies in a series. Fox previously undertook to make a serial version in 2017. The film True Lies was released in 1994 and, in addition to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis, was also played by Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Tia Carrere, Art Malik, Eliza Dushku and Grant Heslov. It was a box office hit, grossing over $ 378 million worldwide. True Lies now represents the fourth series ordered by CBS for next season. CBS is expected to unveil its fall schedule next week during its annual upfront presentation.
