The US network Epix renews the drama TV series Godfather of Harlem for a third season, airing since 2019.
The production of the new season should start in the summer with filming in New York, and the new episodes will be ten.
The show tells the true story of notorious crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned from ten years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in ruins, and is a solid product, full of storylines and intertwining. With the streets controlled by the Italian mafia, Bumpy must face the criminal Genovese family to regain control. During the brutal battle, he forms an alliance with preacher Malcolm X (Nigél Thatch), capturing Malcolm’s political rise in the sights of social upheaval and a mafia war that threatens to tear the city apart.
The president of Epix, Michael Wright he has declared:
“This TV series is a rarity, as it is entertaining to the point of addiction and is deeply relevant. Forest Whitaker, Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein have created a product that deserves all the acclaim it has received and which is more and more compelling each season.” .
